The Correctional Service of Canada announced the coming into force of the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights (CVBR) a few days ago. This legislation has created four basic rights for victims:
- the right to information;
- the right to participation;
- the right to protection and;
- the right to restitution.
As written in its letter, the “Correctional Service of Canada now shares responsibility with other federal agencies to respect the rights afforded to victims and to provide new types of information to registered victims.”
